Meet the team behind Thiel College’s Award-Winning Undergraduate Research Review

C. Grace Honeycutt ’25

Grace is a junior at Thiel College studying English and is Co-Editor-in-Chief for The Lectern. Grace is very involed in on campus activitites including beign President of the Creative Writing Club and Secretary for the Art Club. She is also in Sigma Tau Delta and works in both the Career Center and the Learning Commons on Campus. In her free time, Grace enjoys reading, writing, drawing, and hanginf out with friends. Grace really enjoys working on the Lectern and everything she has learned in the process.

Emily Irons ’24

Emily is a senior at Thiel College majoring in Early Childhood / Special Education and minoring in English. Emily is the Print-Editor-in-Chief for The Lectern as well as the Copy Editor for The Phoenix. She is involved in several activities on campus including president of Alpha Chi and Order of Omega, vice president of Kappa Delta Pi and Student Government, and president of Zeta Tau Alpha. She is an HONS 109 Peer Mentor and also works in the Writing Lab and for Thiel Team. Emily enjoys reading and traveling. Emily has worked on The Lectern for the past three years and is grateful to have grown alongside the journal as a peer reviewer to now an editor. Emily is especially grateful to Grace, her co-editor, and Dr. Gross, the advisor. for their continued support and dedication to this journal.

Savannah Adams ’26

Savannah is a sophomore at Thiel College studying Early Childhood and Special Education with a minor in English and is a peer reviewer for The Lectern. She is involved in several organizations on campus including Sigma Kappa, the Thielensian, and Choir. Savannah enjoys reading, listening to music, and several miscellaneous crafts. She is excited to be a peer reviewer for The Lectern because it allows her to develop her proofreading skills for her future career.

Matt Beuermann ’23

Matt graduated from Thiel College with a bachelors in arts for English and Communications and has moved on to Thiel’s MBA program. He is a peer reviewer and copy editor for both The Lectern and The Phoenix and also works in the Office of Communications and Marketing on campus. Most of Matt’s “free time” is occupied by his sporting endeavors in Cross Country, Basketball, and Track and Field. Matt enjoys his position on The Lectern, as it not only serves as a creative outlet, but also prepares him for a future career in publishing.

Roxanne Cianci ’24

Roxanne is a senior at Thiel College studying English. She is involved in multiple activities and organizations on campus, such as the Dietrich Honors Institute, Sigma Tau Delta, and the college’s Environmental Club. She is also the editor of Lay-out and Content for The Phoenix and a member of the drumline for the Thiel Tomcat Marching Pride. In her free time, Roxanne enjoys hiking and kayaking, as well as board and video games. She joined The Lectern peer review board for an opportunity to engage with research writing beyond what goes into her classroom assignments.

Makenna Oswalt ’26

Makenna is a sophomore at Thiel College studying English and Businesses Marketing and Advertising. Makenna is involved in the Dietrich Honors Institute, Spanish Club, Lamba Sigma, softball, Sigma Kappa, and works in admissions as a Thiel Team member. She enjoys reading, writing, hanging out with her friends and family, and being outdoors. Makenna enjoys being an editor for The Lectern because she enjoys reading the interesting works of other students on campus.

Taylor Pearce ’24

Taylor is a senior at Thiel College, studying English while pursuing a certificate in Secondary Education. Taylor is involved in various organizations around campus, including being the President of Sigma Tau Delta, the Editor-in-Chief of The Phoenix, and an executive member of the Chi Omega women’s fraternity. In her free time, Taylor enjoys reading, writing, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends. She appreciates her time working for the Lectern because it allows her to enhance her editing skills and to read her peer’s research.

Samantha Reid ’24

Samantha is a Senior at Thiel College majoring in English and pursuing a secondary education certification. Samantha really enjoys being on the editorial board of The Lectern as she likes proofreading and learning about the various projects that her peers are working on. In her free time, she likes reading a variety of books as well as spending time outdoors with her family.

Colin Schroyer ’26

Colin Schroyer is a sophomore at Thiel College, majoring in English with Creative and Professional Writing specializations, as well as minoring in Film Studies. Colin served as a peer reviewer for The Lectern and has also signed on to review for The Phoenix, as well as being involved in other on-campus organizations. Colin spends most of his free time helping out his family and volunteering on campus, which is how he ended up here in the first place. He enjoyed the opportunity to peer review for The Lectern as an opportunity to give back to the Thiel College community.

Madeleine White ’25

Madeleine is a junior at Thiel College studying Neuroscience and Health Systems and is an editor for The Lectern. She is involved in many activities on campus, including Student Government and Zeta Tau Alpha. Madeleine enjoys music, reading, and hanging out with her friends in her free time. Madeleine enjoys being an editor for The Lectern because it allows her to enhance her skills in English and help others get their work out into the community.
