Meet the team behind Thiel College’s Undergraduate Research Review

Tess Cadman ’23

Tess is a senior at Thiel College studying English and is the Web Editor-in-Chief for The Lectern. Tess is involved in several activities on campus, including being the President of Sigma Tau Delta and an editor for The Phoenix. In her free time, Tess enjoys reading, writing, going to the beach, and hanging out with her friends. Tess appreciates being the Web Editor for The Lectern because it allows her to extend her creativity to an online platform available to the Thiel Community.

Jade Rhoads ’23

Jade is a senior at Thiel College studying neuroscience and psychology and is the Print Editor-in-Chief for The Lectern. Jade is involved in several activities on campus including Sigma Kappa, SAAC, cross country, softball, and multiple honorary societies. In her free time, Jade enjoys spending time with her cat, Button, working out, and listening to music. Jade wanted to be an Editor-in-chief because she wanted more experience in a leadership position and more experience in the English field.

Matt Beuermann ’23

Matt is a senior at Thiel College, majoring in English and communications. He is a peer reviewer and copy editor for both The Lectern and The Phoenix and also works in the Office of Communications and Marketing on campus. Most of Matt’s “free time” is occupied by his sporting endeavours in Cross Country, Basketball, and Track and Field. Matt enjoys his position on The Lectern, as it not only serves as a creative outlet, but also prepares him for a future career in publishing.

Emily Irons ’24

Emily is a junior at Thiel College studying Early Childhood and Special Education. Emily is involved with various on-campus activities, such as Active minds, Alpha Chi, the Dietrich Honors Institute, Kappa Delta Pi, and Order of Omega. She works as a peer mentor, Resident Leader, and Writing Lab Consultant and is a member of Thiel Team. She also is the Student Government Association Secretary and Vice President 1 of the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. Emily enjoys traveling, reading, writing poetry, staying active, and being outside. Emily loves being an editor for The Lectern as it fulfills her passion of editing and writing.

Janelle Mudry ’23

Janelle is a senior at Thiel College studying Secondary Education English and is served as a peer reviewer for The Lectern. Janelle also serves as a Co-Editor for The Phoenix, as well as being a member of several honorary societies and student organizations. Outside of school Janelle enjoys reading, writing, and art.

Samantha Reid ’24

Samantha is a Junior at Thiel College majoring in English Secondary Education. Samantha really enjoys being on the editorial board of The Lectern as she likes proofreading and learning about the various projects that her peers are working on. In her free time, she likes reading a variety of books as well as spending time outdoors with her family.

Virginia Riddle ’25

Virginia Riddle is a sophomore English major at Thiel College and is an editor of the Lectern. She plans to earn a Teaching English as a Foreign Language certificate and teach in Italy after graduation. She loves to read and write and does both frequently. Virginia appreciates her time working for the Lectern because it allows her to see the variety of interesting topics that Thiel college students write on, while simultaneously letting her enhance her writing skills in a professional environment. 

Madeleine White ’25

Madeleine is a sophomore at Thiel College studying Neuroscience and Health Systems and is an editor for The Lectern. She is involved in many activities on campus, including Student Government and Zeta Tau Alpha. Madeleine enjoys music, reading, and hanging out with her friends in her free time. Madeleine enjoys being an editor for The Lectern because it allows her to enhance her skills in English and help others get their work out into the community.

Morgan Wood ’23

Morgan is a senior at Thiel College studying Neuroscience with minors in Psychology and Communication Sciences and Disorders. She is a student editor and peer reviewer for The Lectern. Morgan is involved in several activities on campus, including being the President of the Neuroscience Club and Vice President of Students Inspiring the Next Generation. She’s also a member of Nu Rho Psi, Psi Chi, and the DHI. Morgan appreciates being a student editor for The Lectern because it allows her to experience the making of a research journal, as well as being more involved in the Thiel Community.
